Disability Calendar of Events
A calendar of events that recognizes various days (and months) is a powerful and easy way to bring the conversation about disability into your classrooms, schools and homes. Including discussion of disabled people throughout the year sends a message to all that people with disabilities are recognized and valued as a part of the community.
On this page, you will find information about how we can help you create a disability calendar of events, a list of days, weeks, and months you may want to reference to discuss in your class, throughout your school, your campus, the community, your home and some examples of lessons and resources that do just that.
Infuse disability representation regularly throughout the year easily by using our calendar filled with disability related concepts. Pick a month below and you’ll find opportunities that last all month as well as those that are date specific. Bring them up in school wide morning announcements, newsletters, and individual classrooms.
We can help you create a calendar of events:
Add disability content to a general event, for instance, a diversity fair or Black History Month
Create disability-specific events such as film festivals, disability pride days, disability-themed assemblies, or invite guest speakers and performers
