Getting Started with
Disability Inclusive Curriculum
Professional Development
We provide Professional Development that is aligned with the goals of Disability Inclusive Curriculum and is disabled-led, as is required by the legislation.
Though all professional development will have a common base, we recognize that each school or LEA will have their own unique needs. We will develop a one time training or year long mentorship program that meets your exact needs.
We also have recorded versions of our most popular trainings that can be purchased for individual use.
Contact us at info@DisabilityEqualityEducation.org to set up your professional development.

Curriculum and Resources
Throughout our website you will find a comprehensive collection focused on disability inclusive curriculum. Lessons are grouped by grade as well as subject. The lessons and resources here include both those created by Disability Equality in Education as well as those that we have vetted and included (via link) to make a more user friendly experience. All resources on DEE’s site have been created by or peer reviewed by people with disabilities.
Below you will find resources, including lesson plans, to use as you bring Disability Inclusive Curriculum a reality in your schools and classrooms.
You can explore our lesson plans and resources using the drop down menu above labeled Education and find the grade you are interested in, or go directly to our Lesson Plans and Resources Overview page that includes links to all grade levels, subjects and supports that we offer.

Guidance on Implementing a Disability Inclusive Curriculum
Pennsylvania’s Disability Inclusive Curriculum Pilot
The first pilot program on Disability Inclusive Curriculum begins in the fall of 2023 and will continue for 3 years. We are proud to have led the effort to create this legislation and look forward to working with schools and districts as they begin to embed disability into classroom lessons and conversations.
The Disability Inclusive Curriculum Pilot as added to the Pennsylvania Public School Code in the Summer of 2022 is intended to instruct all K-12 students on the political, economic, and social contributions of individuals with disabilities. It also aims to increase the accurate and regular representation of disability throughout all aspects of school to help learners understand that disability is a natural part of the human condition.
We provide Professional Development that is aligned with the goals of Disability Inclusive Curriculum and is disabled-led, as is required by the legislation.
Our Membership Area will have a forum dedicated to the Pennsylvania Disability Inclusive Curriculum Pilot where you can communicate with others participating in the Pilot.
