About Us

We are a cross-disability nonprofit organization led by disabled people who are experts in the fields of inclusive disability education and advocacy.

We are proud of the network we have built of disabled people and advocates from around the world which contribute to our cutting edge work.

We provide unique perspectives on disability in educational settings. Our mission is to pave the way for an equitable future free from prejudice and discrimination by empowering disabled people and their allies to lead, organize, advocate, and educate in their communities. We envision a society of full participation, meaningful inclusion, and equity.

Nothing About Us Without Us is at the heart of who we are and what we do.

We believe that disabled people are key to creating more inclusive systems and environments that are essential for disabled people and beneficial for all.

Our main goal is to bring disability into classroom conversations in various (non-medical) ways which educates and informs all students about disability in a positive and/or neutral way.

In addition to the use of lesson plans, we also encourage and support the creation of a calendar of events which provides opportunities to talk about disability throughout the year in many contexts.

This website contains a growing number of lessons, resources and links to other recommended sites that educators can use to create a disability inclusive curriculum in their school or school district.

By bringing disability representation and conversation into education, we believe that our next generation can grow up without the prejudice that ignorance can create.
